The tour is built on documented local history, newspaper accounts, historic records, and stories connected to real places in downtown Salida. Rather than relying on invented legends or scripted stories, the tour explores the people, businesses, tragedies, and mysteries that shaped Salida's past. Guests visit historic buildings and locations while learning about reported murders, the railroad, Wild West history, and the stories that still linger in Salida today.
How does the self-guided audio tour work? Purchase your tour and you’ll receive an email with your personal access link and tour map. When you’re ready, head to the starting location, open the tour on your phone, put on your headphones and press play. The tour provides directions from stop to stop, so you simply walk, listen and explore at your own pace. No guide to meet, no app to download and no schedule to follow.
How do I receive the tour? Immediately after purchase, you’ll receive an email with your personal tour-access link and tour map. Open the link on your phone when you’re ready to explore—nothing to download and no app to install.
