Is the Ghosts & Hauntings Audio Tour based on real history? Yes. The tour is built from Salida’s documented history, historic newspapers, court records, local accounts and long-told stories connected to real people and real places. Where a story is legend rather than established fact, we treat it that way.
Is the tour family-friendly? The tour is best suited to older children, teens and adults. It includes stories involving murder, death, violence, tragedy and other dark historical subjects. Parents should use their own judgment.
What haunted places will I visit? The route takes you through historic downtown Salida to hotels, buildings and locations connected to some of the town’s best-known ghost stories, unexplained events, murders and tragedies. The exact route and stop-by-stop directions are included with your tour.
How long does the tour take? Most people finish in about 60–90 minutes, but there is no time limit. Stop for dinner, have a drink, explore a shop or continue another day. The tour waits for you.
Do I have to believe in ghosts to enjoy it? Not at all. The tour is as much about Salida’s strange history, murders, tragedies and local legends as it is about ghosts. Skeptics are welcome.
